Berke Miller Law Group, LLP

Labor and Employment

While our primary areas of practice are below, we represent our clients in many different areas of business and the law. If your particular area of interest is not listed, please call us to discuss your individual needs:

With the proliferation of new employment laws and unfavorable court decisions over the last few years, it is imperative that California employers adapt to this ever-changing legal environment. To fill this need, Berke Miller Law Group has formed a professional association with Van Vleck Turner & Zaller LLP. This partnership focuses on labor and employment law in California. While our primary concentration is litigation, we offer clients a wide range of advice and counseling in terms of employment policies, compliance with California’s unique wage and hour laws, and training services for a company’s managers and human resources professionals. The Legislature has passed a steady stream of new, hard-to-follow laws. The Courts, in turn, have consistently given these statutes a pro-employee, anti-employer interpretation. And, finally, class action lawsuits have exposed nearly every company operating in California to previously unimaginable damages for even the most technical violation of these laws. Moreover, the big firms that normally defend these cases have increased their hourly rates to the point that the cost of defense alone will often drive employers into unfavorable settlements. The Firm’s attorneys specialize exclusively in labor and employment law and have previously worked at some the nation’s largest and most prestigious law firms. They ultimately realized, however, that they could provide better, more cost-effective services within a smaller firm that was more specialized and more responsive to their clients’ employment law needs.
